Artist Statement

I was studying in Australia from 2019 to 2020, “Rough Impression” was a project I developed gradually during the lockdown and pandemic. My intention was to break through the enclosed spaces and the limitation of collecting materials and sizes of creating, thus building a style/domain of myself.

The artworks are a series of paintings originated from past photos and memories combining with my state of mind. They began from sketches of the foreign country I stayed, then I started painting in the form of landscapes. During the process I project myself into my works, presenting my different inner appearance with changes of colors and composition. My practice is an extension of free spirit, where I can explore unrestrictedly and let my thoughts flow. I want to paint personal spaces with my own imagination, making my works lie between fantasy and reality, allowing myself to have a haven in an abstract world.
